Virtualize and Automate your Development, Build, and Test Operations

The Virtualized Development Platform (VDP) centralizes development, build and test for global teams, allowing them to carve out system resources and optionally virtualize them for Solaris™, Linux® and Windows® environments running on SPARC®, AMD™ Opteron™, and Intel® Xeon® Processor-based Sun Blade™ Modular Systems.

The VDP allows development, integration and quality assurance teams to easily provision and automatically configure build and test servers. Powered by CollabNet CUBiT and the Sun Blade 6000 modular system, this cross-platform blade infrastructure and software bundle allows you to centralize infrastructure assets and provide your teams with access to a pool of blade servers that can be quickly provisioned and configured.

Key Business Benefits of the VDP

    • Increased ROI by up to 50% - Reduce development, build and test equipment costs through centralization, virtualization, and tools to efficiently monitor and allocate systems (up to 50% in typical environments)
    • Improve the quality of software delivered by eliminating configuration errors between development, build, and test activities.
    • Increase developer productivity by drastically reducing time spent on configuring build and test environments.
    • Improve governance through better visibility into the development infrastructure and better traceability of system profiles and configurations attached to a specific software release.

    Key Functionality

    • Includes the CollabNet CUBiT technology for centrally provisioning and managing development, build, and test environments.
    • Includes a free 15-user version of CollabNet Enterprise Edition integrated with CollabNet CUBiT, providing a collaborative development environment which includes role-based access controls for managing permissions.
    • Optimized on Sun Blade servers, the state of the art cross-platform blade infrastructure.
    • Automated provisioning of build and test servers helps to standardize development, build, and test best practices and improve operational efficiency.
    • Codified profiles can be saved in the Component Library for reuse.
    • Cross-platform support - Cross-platform support for Sun SPARC, AMD Opteron, and Intel Xeon servers support running Solaris, Windows or Linux.
    • Integrated ALM approach - Simplified approach to integrating the build and test into Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) that works for any project.
