CollabNet® unleashes first ever Distributed Software Development Solution native to the Eclipse™ IDE

BRISBANE, Calif., May 30, 2007 — CollabNet, the primary sponsor of the Subversion® open source project and leading provider of collaborative software development solutions, today announced that it is releasing the first ever development platform which enables distributed software development in a native Eclipse environment. CollabNet Desktop, Eclipse Edition allows software engineers to collaborate globally using CollabNet Enterprise Edition as a backbone to centrally track and manage the lifecycle of all source code and project tasks and assets. As part of this offering, CollabNet is providing a free download of a complete Eclipse perspective for distributed software development, and commercial support subscriptions for its enterprise users.

Leveraging its sponsorship of the Subversion version control tool, CollabNet continues to deliver solutions that bring more collaboration to the software development process. CollabNet Desktop, Eclipse Edition is the first in a series of new free products to be rolled-out in 2007 to extend CollabNet's position as the leading provider of distributed software development solutions. Up to now, the market lacked an integrated development platform that drove project visibility, tracking and reporting without requiring developers to leave their development environment to contribute to lifecycle processes required by the enterprise. In a February 2007 research note by Gartner titled “Key Issues for Application Development Tools: Life Cycle Management Tools,” the analyst firm states that companies will “need to match their development styles and needs to strategies that achieve an appropriate balance of ALM discipline and control, while avoiding overly rigid and restrictive processes and practices.”

• The use of the Eclipse Mylar task-focused UI to update and synchronize project tasks, issues, or artifacts that are tracked and stored in the CollabNet development platform. These tasks are automatically synchronized with the Subversion based source code trees in Eclipse as well as the CollabNet's repositories for project tasks.
• The use of Subclipse to version and synchronize Subversion-based code hosted in the CollabNet environment.
• The ability to directly search on openCollabNet, http://www.open.collab.net/, to find product extensions and community resources valuable to the Eclipse software developer.
• Direct integration within Eclipse to CollabNet Enterprise Edition to allow collaboration on project tasks and artifacts throughout the software application life cycle.
• A web interface for CollabNet's CUBiT global virtualization solution which allows Eclipse users to automatically load and build their software application using any industry build and test environment onto a dynamically provisioned physical or virtual server located within a pool of globally accessible servers.
