ScrumMaster Certification

An Agile project manager emphasizes facilitation, leadership and communication over traditional command-and-control activities. In the Scrum framework, this role is called ScrumMaster as a constant reminder of the differences between Agile and traditional project management. The ScrumMaster’s role is to maximize the team’s efforts toward its goals while removing the impediments that stand in its way.

In this two-day course, you will apply the Scrum framework to build a new product. You will learn what it feels like to be on a Scrum team—experiencing many of the challenges you're likely to face—while being coached by someone involved with the application of Scrum at many organizations. This “learning by doing” style of instruction demands your open mind and active participation. We will apply the experiential activities to discussion of advanced topics such as how to use Scrum in multiple-team organizations, how to measure progress empirically at a macro level, release planning to maximize ROI, and why such a simple framework disrupts organizations to be the best they can be.

Product Owner Certification

Scrum is a simple empirically-based framework that has wide ranging implications. Key to the success of Scrum is the role of the Product Owner. The Product Owner is responsible for a project’s Return on Investment (ROI), guiding the Scrum team, and representing Customers as well as Business and Development staff. Strong Product Ownership is key to successful Scrum transformations.

Learn the essentials of working as a Scrum Alliance Certified Product Owner (CSPO) in this two-day class. CollabNet’s CSPO equips participants with the knowledge of Scrum principles and practices necessary to succeed in this new paradigm. Participants can expect to learn how to establish and maintain a backlog and write stories with clear acceptance criteria. We will also discuss real-world organizational challenges such as managing distributed teams, managing large or multiple projects, release planning and metrics.

PMI/ACP Preparation

Agile development methods, such as Scrum, eXtreme Programming (XP) and Lean, have proven to deliver huge productivity and quality gains, and as such, are experiencing broad market acceptance. Gartner predicts that by the end of 2012, Agile development methods will be used in 80% of all software projects. Research conducted by the Project Management Institute (PMI) supports this assertion, showing that the use of Agile has tripled from December 2008 to May 2011. Companies are increasingly seeking project managers with Agile experience to organize and facilitate their Agile teams. To respond to this market demand, the PMI has instituted a new certification called the "Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP)"

CollabNet, a PMI Registered Education Provider (REP) and the world’s leading provider of Certified Scrum training, is now providing a three-day workshop to teach participants the fundamentals of Agile and prepare them for the PMI-ACP exam. Both the Certified Scrum Master and the PMI-ACP are important certifications in the industry. This workshop will prepare you for both.

CollabNet Agile Management 3.0

CollabNet Agile Management is more than a course – it’s an approach to inspire team leaders and members to create higher performing Agile teams. Based on Jurgen Appelo’s Management 3.0, the course provides guidance and outlines concrete steps that individuals and teams should take to improve the craft, art, and science of management.

The two day course uses a hands-on and highly interactive approach to cover the topics that are crucial to team management in an Agile organization. The first day covers the reasons that Agile teams need a different type of management, the importance of complexity theory and its implications in modern team management, motivation, and self-organization. The second day covers goal setting in a self-organized team, competency and skill development, organizational structures, and change management.

The course is being offered on three dates only.
