CollabNet Named Visionary in Gartner Enterprise Agile Planning Tools Magic Quadrant

Report highlights company's strengths in integration, scalability and reporting

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – May 1, 2017 – CollabNet, a global leader in enterprise software development, release automation and DevOps solutions, was positioned as a visionary in the recently released “Gartner Enterprise Agile Planning Tools Magic Quadrant” authored by analysts Thomas E. Murphy, Mike West and Keith James Mann. Gartner defines visionaries as vendors that understand where the market is going or have a vision for changing market rules.

CollabNet solutions are used widely to expedite application development and improve quality. This report cites among its strengths CollabNet’s ability to help organizations move from Waterfall to Agile development methods, bridging between traditional IT legacy applications and new technologies.

“As noted in the report, many traditional organizations are moving toward modern development methods,” said Scott Rose, Vice President of Product Management at CollabNet. “Vision is about seeing where customers are headed and helping them prepare for those changing requirements. We also need to be pragmatic and help them adopt those changes and, where possible, leverage their existing investments. We’re pleased that in this report Gartner discussed CollabNet’s ability to facilitate that transition at the enterprise level. It’s an honor that Gartner recognizes us as a market visionary.”

CollabNet supports enterprise Agile software collaboration, DevOps lifecycle management, release management, automation, visibility and traceability at an enterprise scale. Many leading companies and government agencies rely on CollabNet to accelerate application delivery with Agile, continuous integration and delivery, and DevOps. They reduce costs through a governed adoption of open-source tools, streamlined compliance and the reuse of existing assets, resources and processes.

"Agile planning tools, including application lifecycle management (ALM) platforms, have matured in recent years and now support DevOps and business priorities through collaboration, visibility, traceability and cross-functional integration,” said Rose. “We've participated in this evolution process and seen it come about firsthand."

The application development lifecycle management (ADLM) and DevOps space continues to evolve. Table-stakes asks are extensibility and dynamic data interaction between organic and third-party tools and services. Value is delivered through the quality, configuration simplicity, and flexibility of workflow between a vendor’s core products and the ecosystem – this is a major point of differentiation, and customers are paying a lot of attention to it.

Rose explained, “CollabNet continues to innovate in this area and is deeply investing for this complex requirement. We continue to add APIs to our platform, meta-data-based adapters and sensors to provide light-weight and high-performance data interaction and infrastructure. This infrastructure provides actionable traceability linking our organic agile trackers, version control and DevOps IP with the broad third-party tooling across the ADLM and DevOps ecosystem – which provides, as the report says, a continuous view from task initiation to product delivery. We continue to build on our strengths cited in the report.”
